Security At Work
Bank staff operate in one of the most regulated commercial environments and scrutiny by their employers and the FCA, has created a set of work issues that most other people don’t face.
And the fact that the raw material used in banking is money means that what in most industries would be minor errors, can easily produce significant losses. All of this at a time when the pressures on bank staff through often excessive workloads, inadequate staff numbers and unrealistic targets have never been greater.
Arbitrary disciplinary action, job insecurity, unfair treatment over pay and working conditions, excessive working hours, problems getting time off, discrimination, harassment, bullying: the list of potential problems facing bank staff is endless and most people have no one to turn to for help. Those who are represented by trade unions, find those unions are controlled by the employers with whom they are supposed to be negotiating. The subsidies the employers provide, without which these unions could not function, mean they lack the will to stand up for their members.
With 100 years experience representing bank staff, BankAffinity offers its members the advice, support and where necessary the protection they need to get a fair deal at work. And because we accept no subsidies you can be sure we have only one priority – our members.
We’ll help you with any work-related problem, guiding you through the minefield that is the modern workplace, ensuring your legal rights are protected and giving practical advice on how you can deal with the sort of problems that most of us face during our careers. We’ll represent you in any grievance or disciplinary procedures, and if appropriate present your case at the Employment Tribunal.
